Miss your enrollment window and you can face a lifelong penalty. Enter your birthday to see your exact 7-month Initial Enrollment Period and the dates that matter.
We use this only to calculate your window — nothing is stored.
Enrolling in the first 3 months of your window gives you the earliest coverage start. If you're still working with employer coverage, you may qualify to delay without penalty — confirm with Social Security first.
Your Initial Enrollment Period (IEP) is a 7-month window around your 65th birthday: the 3 months before your birthday month, your birthday month, and the 3 months after. It's your first and best chance to sign up for Medicare Parts A and B without a late penalty.
Miss it without qualifying for a Special Enrollment Period, and you may pay a Part B late-enrollment penalty of 10% for each full year you were eligible but not enrolled — for as long as you have Part B.
